News

The James S. McDonnell Foundation (JSMF) awarded Magy Seif El-Nasr, Serious Games Vice-Chair, and Elin Carstensdottir, Assistant Professor of Games and Playable Media, a $250,000 grant to study resilience through the use of virtual environments. Their teams will develop an Alternative Reality Game (ARG) to further understand and measure the ability to adapt in the face of significant sources of stress and anxiety caused by unpredictable events. Research data will be pulled from observing first-year college students. The project will be a collaboration between Seif El-Nasr’s Game User Interaction and Intelligence (GUII) Lab and Carstendottir’s Interaction Dynamics Lab.
